GENERAL FOREMAN

 

Primary Purpose:

 

These individuals must possess the skill and knowledge to direct a number of foremen in the execution of differing scopes of work in a fashion that coordinates their efforts toward a timely, safe, and quality completion of the project.  They must be able to prioritize limited manpower and equipment needs to accomplish the most efficient use for the client. They must also have a basic understanding of administrative procedures and requirements. 

 

Typical Duties:

 

Assigns workers to specific duties. Inspects completed processing systems to determine conformance to specifications. Trains new workers in use of equipment and tools. Performs duties as described under Supervisor. May supervise workers engaged in working in high-pressure systems and be designated Steam-Fitter Supervisor. May supervise workers engaged in maintenance and repair work, and be designated Pipe-Fitter Supervisor, Maintenance; Steam-Fitter Supervisor, Maintenance.Directs the activities of multiple foremen and workers, knowing each crew member’s limitations, and provides suggestions to crew using personal experience and knowledge to help them understand the proper and safe methods of performance.  Plans and executes portions of the job as directed.  Has eight (8) years of previous experience in petrochemical plant construction and maintenance, and has demonstrated extensive leadership skills.  Supervisor is responsible for quality control and all required documentation.

 

Requirements:

 

The worker must able to write reports and letters with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar. The worker must be able to speak, using correct English before an audience with poise, voice control, and confidence.

The amount of specific job training required to learn the techniques, information, and facility needed for average performance in this position is from 7 to 10 years.
