Mechanical/Process Discipline Manager

Mechanical/Process Engineering Manager

Bilfinger Industrial Services is seeking a Mechanical/Process Engineering Manager to join our team in St. Louis (Ballwin), MO. 

The ideal candidate shall:

  • Be a highly skilled mechanical or chemical engineer with significant experience.
  • Be capable of leading the department and collaborating with project managers and other department managers.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Be well versed in mechanical industry codes (ASME, ANSI, API, ASHRAE, ICC, NFPA, MSS, SMACNA, etc.)

This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for the management of the mechanical/process engineering department. You will have the opportunity to perform, practice, and apply a wide range of mechanical/process engineering skills to our client’s projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee up to 10 mechanical/process engineers
  • Expected to be able to work in a dual function as a manager and a lead engineer
  • Work in collaboration with the Electrical, Civil/Structural, and Design departments
  • Understand project execution and sequence of engineering deliverables
  • Assure that project scope, schedule, and budget are met for the department
  • Manage strategic staffing and hiring plans for the department
  • Maintain project staffing and forecasting plan
  • Facilitate and lead internal meetings to encourage information sharing, collaboration, and team building
  • Review, sign, and seal deliverables
  • Maintain quality plan
  • Guide, mentor, and develop direct reports
  • Maintain training and advancement program
  • Encourage professional registration
  • Verify department licensing for all projects
  • Assist in proposal generation and business development
  • Produce man-hour estimates
  • Innovate and improve current work processes

    • Bulk material handling
  • Piping Design
    • Piping arrangements
    • Piping isometrics
    • Pipe supports
    • Pipe specifications
    • Pipe stress analysis/calculations
  • Building Utilities Engineering
    • HVAC - calculations and equipment selection
    • Plumbing – supply, drain, waste, vent
    • Fire Protection
  • Preparation of construction and bid documents
    Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or other related field) from an accredited university
  • PE license required (with ability to obtain licenses in other states)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, or similar sectors
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience is preferred
    Desired Skills:
  • Caesar II, AFT Arrow/Fathom, Trane Trace 700
  • Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Use of 3D models and point clouds
