Head of HSEQ

Based on a site of Bilfinger and reporting to the COO, the Head of HSEQ plays a key role within the Bilfinger organization. He/she will be tasked with initiating, leading and fostering a safety culture and safety performance by implementing lean HSEQ systems, strategies, processes, controls and guidelines for an innovative, “zero accident” safety culture that is compliant to rules and regulatory standards.
He/she is a self-starter and highly driven by passion for HSEQ. The role is an opportunity for all (senior) talents within Bilfinger with operational experience paired with demonstrated inclusive leadership style influencing and guiding regional & local teams and strategies, which both can compensation on missing HSEQ background knowledge.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities:

(Location Mannheim)

 

  • Accountable for owning and the continuous improvement of the strategies, systems, processes (including defining standards, monitoring, analysis, forecasting, planning and reporting), controls and capabilities to develop a safety culture which drives the business to year on year improvements in safety performance
  • Deploy and deliver annual safety improvement plans to address root causes identified in in-depth investigation of accidents and incidents and prevent re-occurrence working closely with with industry regulators. 
  • Identify the existing gaps at an early stage and turn them into a systematic plan that is implemented in a comprehensive and synergetic (cross vertical) manner across all regions to address those areas and to lead to customer satisfaction and cost optimization
  • Closely collaborate with regions and legal entities’ HSEQ teams as well as active stakeholder management with senior clients and customer teams
  • Execute the responsibilities of a HSEQ Head according to the lawful and ethical standards, in particular the group’s business code of conduct in addition to ensuring your teams follow the same in setting high standards

 
Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering or management discipline with appropriate professional qualifications
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in the industry sector – special focus on providing services towards the industry is a plus
  • Relevant experience in delivering and improving HSEQ systems and processes across the globe as well as across multiple sectors (on-/offshore, engineering, maintenance, etc.) is a plus
  • Proven experience developing and directing the implementation of HSEQ initiatives, projects and programs across multiple geographies and business units.
  • Proven ability to manage (in-)direct teams and work result oriented within a matrix organization
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
  • Willingness to travel internationally
