To provide full commercial support to the AWE Portfolio business unit, including oversight and management of the respective commercial team. In addition to managing the commercial activities on existing contracts, this role would be required to continuously work on improving business performance and applying best practices.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure AWE Project commercial strategies are developed, implemented and continuously monitored to deliver project objectives
  • Responsibility for monthly commercial reports and contract reporting including calculation of receivables.
  • Manage the commercial team in the AWE business unit, including performance reviews, development and task management
  • Responsibility for budgets and forecasts for the region including analysis of risks and opportunities
  • Ensure that contractual issues such as rate increases, variations, notices and disputes are handled effectively and promptly.
  • Management of receivables, the valuation process and invoicing to ensure that working capital is minimised
  • Commercial support to operational management
  • Budgeting and control of AWE business unit overhead costs
  • Manage and compile monthly reports demonstrating accurate cost and revenue recognition
  • Preparation business unit board packs and analysis of KPIs
  • Ensure internal processes and controls are adhered to
  • Development of Margin Improvement plan and BTOP initiatives with local Operational Team
  • Ensuring that Bilfinger BMS procedures are observed throughout

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous commercial experience within the Defence sector
  • Management of commercial teams
  • Experience of projects covering M&E or SI services
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of NEC3 / NEC4 form of contract
  • Must be an excellent communicator
  • Ambitious
  • Ability to multi-task and priorities effectively
  • QS / Accountancy background (Min HND/Degree standard or equivalent)
  • NEC knowledge
