Technical Writer 

Location: Reston, VA

Minimum Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree in English or related field highly desired
• 2+ years of related experience required
• Knowledge of the construction industry is highly desired
• Ability to research and interpret highly technical information, specifications, and construction drawings
• Ability to translate technical information from interviews into proposal narrative
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to tailor communication to target audience
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text
• Ability to meet deadlines and to both work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Ability to manage numerous concurrent opportunities with information coming from multiple sources

 

Scope of Responsibility:


The Technical Writer develops proposals and content for government and commercial clients. The Technical Writer will improve established content, as well as develop new content that meets specific proposal and customer requirements. Focus will be on descriptive technical response narratives for stand-alone projects and seed projects.

 

Position Duties:


• Interviews and gathers data and technical content from customers, Project Managers, designers, and other key personnel to develop and improve technical documents
• Research and write original proposal content in response to various government and commercial contract opportunities from inception to delivery
• Recommends and implements formats responsive to technical and customer requirements
• Produces products that conform to company standards
• Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines

• Creates diagrams, charts, and other visual aids where needed to assist readers in understanding a
product or process
• Reading and interpreting solicitation documents to develop proposal outlines, schedules, and other required proposal components to ensure proposals meet solicitation requirements
• Ability to review/rewrite proposal inputs
• Ability to successfully communicate and collaborate with all levels of personnel
• Possess the ability to adapt to frequently changing requirement and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Support alignment of technical specifications and proposal content
• Performance of the required job duties will be in an office environment.

 

We are a national General Contractor providing complex renovation and design/build construction services around the country.
