Accounting Manager

Responsible for accounting policies and procedures involving the maintenance of a general ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts, and financial management reporting. Under general direction, is accountable for the performance and results of a related discipline or sub-group within a function. Manages the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members. Participates in the development of functional strategy and may be responsible for global processes and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares timely and accurate monthly financial records.
  • Maintain the quality control over financial transactions in the ERP system.
  • Preparing all balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Oversee the process for the monthly WIP calculations in the ERP system.
  • Facilitate the internal reporting procedures to Bilfinger HQ.
  • Assist with preparation of management reports.
  • Prepares Month-end and Year-end close, Journal Entries, Fixed Assets, Treasury postings, etc.
  • Prepares the annual financial statements based on US GAAP.
  • Steer the accounting team during the closing process to warrant deadlines are met.
  • Assists with costing, project review, updated costs for estimators.
  • Responsible for documenting, updating and implementing accounting procedures and SOPs.
  • Organize multiple procedures, policies, and technical accounting analyses.
  • Progressive preparation and coordination of internal and fiscal year-end audits.
  • Ensure a competent, trained staff through goal setting, regular assessment, and development.
  • Distinguish and evolve process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency.
  • Acts and operate independently with minimal daily direction from executive team.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, to make sound judgments.
  • Deal tactfully and effectively with employees and other department managers.
  • Assist management with ad-hoc requests, including special projects and initiatives
  • Observes and complies with all safety rules.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification a must.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least seven 7 years of experience in an Engineering / Construction environment.
  • Management or supervisory experience of at least three years
  • Willingness to work the hours needed to complete and deliver tasks on committed deadline dates.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to provide quality work in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work individually and in a team.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of SAP. Previous experience with Viewpoint a plus.
  • Must have knowledge of internal controls; SOX experience a plus
  • Technically sufficient in US GAAP including ASC 606 and ASC 842; exposure to IFRS a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced level)
