Head of Energy & Sustainability Programs (Immediately joiners preferred)

Objectives

The Head of Energy & Sustainability Programs is responsible for setting the vision, building and managing a high-performing team, and delivering portfolio-wide energy efficiency and GHG emission intensity reduction targets. The role covers strategic planning, program delivery, ESCO management, compliance, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring clients leadership in sustainability and operational excellence.

The role spans audit → IGA → design → implementation support → M&V to deliver guaranteed/shared savings under ESCO contracts and client’s standards

Scope of Services

  • Develop and maintain the energy and decarbonization strategy and roadmap.
  • Oversee energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1–3), IGAs, and ECM identification across all facilities.
  • Approve technical specifications, BOQs, and RFPs for ESCO and direct procurement.
  • Evaluate and select ESCO partners; ensure alignment of scope with performance guarantees.
  • Oversee implementation, commissioning, and retro-commissioning of retrofit projects.
  • Ensure robust M&V (IPMVP Options A–D) and reporting of verified savings.
  • Lead integration of renewable energy, EV charging, and advanced energy management systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management field.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is mandatory.
  • Additional certification in ISO 50001 is mandatory.
  • Additional certification in renewable energy is mandatory
  • o Additional certification in solarization is mandatory.
  • Building energy performance certification is mandatory
  • Facility management certification (minimum passing the TA’ASEESY – foundation in
  • facility management) and experience is mandatory 
  • Additional certification in environment is mandatory

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic vision and leadership.
  • Strong financial and commercial skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of energy management systems, auditing, and M&V.
  • Proficient in report writing
  • Project management skills, including scheduling, resource allocation, and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of Arabic).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Project and team management.

Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of operational work experience, including 10 years in energy management, with at least 8 years in a leadership position.
  • Proven track record in delivering large-scale energy efficiency and retrofit project.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large teams and complex portfolios.
  • Experience with ESCO/EPC contracts and performance-based models.
  • Experience in retrofitting petrol stations using the ESCO mechanism in Abu Dhabi is mandatory
  • Experience with solar project managing PPA in the petrol stations industry
  • Experience in facility management is mandatory
  • Experience in deployment energy management platform through IOT for monitoring and controlling Energy is mandatory 
  • Experience in preparing and negotiating tender, RFP, contract, MOU and IGA is mandatory

Other Requirements

  • Valid driving license
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required
  • Abu Dhabi residency is mandatory
