Job Vacancy: Mechanical Inspector

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our team for utility and infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge of Abu Dhabi HSE legislation, codes of practice, and industry best practices.

Job Purpose

To supervise and inspect steel water tanks and carbon steel (CS) pipeline works on DMT / TAQA projects, ensuring Contractor compliance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and Abu Dhabi authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and supervise fabrication, installation, welding, testing, and commissioning of steel water tanks and CS pipelines.
• Ensure compliance with DMT / TAQA standards, project specifications, and approved method statements.
• Review and verify WPS, PQR, WQR, MTCs, NDT reports, and hydrostatic test results.
• Witness welding, NDT, pressure testing, and tank testing activities.
• Issue NCRs for non-conforming works and follow up on corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Contractor, QA/QC teams, and Resident Engineer.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and site documentation.
• Minimum Qualifications
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 7–10 years inspection experience in water / utility / infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience on DMT / TAQA projects is mandatory. Previous TAQA approval (preferred)
• Experience working for an Engineering Consultant is required.

Mandatory Certifications

• CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.2 preferred)
• NDT Level II (RT, UT, MT, PT – minimum)
• API 653 (Aboveground Storage Tanks) and/or API 570 (Piping Inspector)
• NEBOSH IGC or IOSH Managing Safely (NEBOSH preferred)
• Codes & Standards Knowledge
• API 650 / 653
• ASME B31 Series
• ASME Section IX
• AWS D1.1
• AWWA D100 / D103

Additional Requirements

• Strong knowledge of QA/QC inspection procedures and authority approvals.
• Familiar with Abu Dhabi DMT and TAQA requirements.
• Good communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Able to independently supervise and enforce compliance on site.
