Job Description for Electrical Inspector
- Job Purpose
The Electrical Inspector is responsible for supervising on-site installations and construction activities to ensure all electrical works are executed in strict accordance with project specifications, design drawings, safety standards, and Egypt statutory regulations.
Core Responsibilities
- Monitor and inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings, project specifications, and industry best practices.
- Inspect all electrical materials delivered to the site to ensure they match approved submittals, contract requirements, and physical samples.
- Maintain detailed daily logs and supplement inspection records with site photographs. Issue Field Observation Reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) to the Discipline Engineer immediately upon identifying deviations.
- Conduct regular periodic site inspections to ensure electrical safety standards are maintained.
- Update the Discipline Engineer regularly on project performance, risks, and KPIs. Notify management immediately of any serious site incidents.
- Lead the preparation of comprehensive snagging lists. Review “As-Built” drawings and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals for technical accuracy prior to project close-out.
- Maintain effective lines of communication with all project stakeholders to ensure seamless integration between electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
Skills & Experiences
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of total experience, with at least 7–8 years specifically in Site Inspection within a Consultancy or Supervision firm.
- Significant experience in Post-Contract Supervision and QA/QC processes.
- Deep understanding of International Standards (IEC/BS) and Egypt Statutory Authority codes
- Strong command of English (written and spoken).
- Familiarity with site management software and digital inspection tools.
Core Competencies
- Demonstrates a profound understanding of complex electrical systems, including HV/LV distribution, ELV, and life safety systems.
- Meticulous in reviewing shop drawings and inspecting physical works to identify even minor deviations from quality standards.
- Integrity & Professionalism: Maintains high ethical standards, ensuring inspections are unbiased and strictly compliant with contract safety and quality codes.
- Ability to manage difficult conversations with contractors regarding non-compliance or stop-work orders while maintaining a professional working relationship.
- Proactive in identifying potential site clashes or technical hurdles and recommending practical, code-compliant solutions.
- Constantly evaluates site conditions for safety hazards, particularly regarding live electrical testing and high-voltage installations.
- Works effectively across multi-disciplinary teams (Architectural, Structural, MEP) to ensure holistic project success.
