Job Title: Planning Engineer

Qualification: B.E / B.Tech in Engineering (Mechanical / Chemical / Electrical preferred)


Job Summary

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling engineering consultancy projects in the Oil & Gas sector, specifically during FEED and Detailed Design phases. The role involves close coordination with engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables in compliance with project schedules and contractual milestones.


Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain Engineering Project Schedules for FEED and Detailed Design projects.

  • Prepare baseline schedules, manpower histograms, and progress curves.

  • Develop and update schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.

  • Establish engineering work breakdown structures (WBS) aligned with project scope.

Progress Monitoring & Control

  • Monitor engineering progress against baseline schedules.

  • Collect progress inputs from discipline leads and update schedules periodically.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and S-curves.

  • Identify schedule slippages, risks, and propose recovery and mitigation plans.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with Process, Piping, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, Civil, and Safety disciplines.

  • Support Project Managers and Engineering Managers with planning data and forecasts.

  • Interface with clients, PMC, and internal stakeholders on planning matters.

  • Participate in progress review meetings and schedule risk assessments.

Cost & Resource Planning (Support Role)

  • Support preparation of man-hour budgets and resource loading.

  • Track engineering man-hours versus budget.

  • Assist in change management, scope growth tracking, and impact analysis.

Project Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure schedules align with contract requirements and client procedures.

  • Maintain proper documentation and version control of planning deliverables.

  • Support audits, project reviews, and lessons-learned exercises.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong experience in Oil & Gas engineering consultancy projects.

  • Hands-on expertise in Primavera P6 (mandatory).

  • Solid understanding of FEED & Detailed Design engineering workflows.

  • Ability to analyze schedules, forecast trends, and highlight risks early.

  • Strong coordination, communication, and reporting skills.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience on Saudi Aramco / ADNOC / major Middle East Oil & Gas projects.

  • Engineering consultancy or PMC background (preferred over construction-only).

  • Familiarity with engineering deliverable-based progress measurement.

  • Experience in brownfield and revamp projects is an advantage.

  • Previous work experience in KSA preferred.
