Role Profile

Our Automation teams deliver projects in various industries including Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Energy/Renewables, Data Centres and Utilities.
Our teams across Chesterfield, Fareham and Warrington deliver solutions using a wide array of technology including Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA, Ignition and many more. These solutions include PLC, HMI, SCADA, MES, Batch, Functional Safety, OT Cyber Security and Industry 4.0. As part of our continued growth in Automation, we are looking for a ICA Engineer to join our team to support our projects delivery and site works.

The ICA Engineer will:

  • Be a committed and enthusiastic member of the team, taking full responsibility for successful office and site delivery of project solutions to the agreed scope in accordance with company procedures whilst meeting budgetary and time-scale targets.
  • Be pro-active, and able to allocate, plan and supervise office based and site tasks required of the project ICA engineer, then assist and monitor task progress and advise the project manager on progress, risks and issues.
  • Work co-operatively with the Project Manager and engineering team to ensure smooth project progress in accordance with the agreed project lifecycle.

Key Activities

  • Responsible for the site and office based ICA delivery of automation project scope
  • Be able to complete minor works telemetry configuration, updates and installation and commissioning
  • Telemetry SCADA mimic build, configuration and testing
  • Work closely with and support the Project Manager and other engineers and ICA engineers in all aspects of project technical delivery and scope management
  • Estimate site materials and requirements for site ICA works
  • Forward plan site works and resource needs to deliver ICA project scope
  • Communicate effectively with customers on project ICA scope and technical queries
  • Plan own work and movements to be as efficient as possible while delivering project ICA works on time and budget
  • Be able to read electrical and ICA drawings and provide updates and red pens to the engineering teams
  • Allocate tasks to the engineering team and monitor progress
  • Responsible for meeting the technical and quality requirements of projects
  • Ensure project adherence to company quality processes and procedures
  • Identify project opportunities and variations
  • Support the Project Manager in identifying and managing ICA based risks and issues
  • Support the Automation sales and proposals teams on ICA based scope
  • Provide Health and Safety leadership by example

Functions

ICA Engineers are normally expected to undertake the following:

  • Involvement in sales to projects hand-over process
  • Assist the Project Manager in the development of the project Quality plan
  • Assist the Project Manager in the development and ongoing updates of task & procurement lists
  • Peer review documents created by the project team or other teams
  • Undertake site surveys as required
  • Undertake outline design, upfront design studies and requirement definition for ICA project scope
  • Develop site work documentation with team input as necessary (Risk assessment, method statement, site test documentation)
  • Develop O & M documentation
  • Supervise and support integrated system testing, SAT and installation as a commissioning engineer
  • Site commissioning of instrumentation, PLC and automation systems for ICA scope
  • Undertake site ICA works including
    • Simple electrical isolations
    • Installation of 220v electrical supplies
    • Installation of instrumentation and analogue circuits
    • Ethernet, Profibus, and other fieldbus networks
    • Panel modifications
  • Undertake office based work
    • Electrical design, schematic sketches and red pens of existing drawings
    • Telemetry schedule configuration build
    • RTU Testing  
  • Undertake site installation & commissioning

 

Experience & Qualifications

The following experience is essential:

  • Detailed experience of the full ICA elements of a projects life cycle from design, development, testing and on-site commissioning is essential
  • Development & delivery of detailed ICA design documentation
  • Hands on delivery experience of specification, installation and commissioning of ICA systems
  • Experience of Control panels, electrical installation and Instrumentation solutions.
  • A Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or relevant discipline is desirable
