Learning & Development Advisor
As a Learning & Development Advisor, you will be instrumental in shaping the learning and development strategies at Bilfinger. This is a field-based role where you will spend the majority of your time traveling to operational sites delivering hands-on training to frontline employees. While you will contribute to curriculum development and training analysis, the core of this position centers on in-person training facilitation in industrial environments. You will drive initiatives that enhance employee skills and ensure compliance with safety regulations, ultimately contributing to our business goals and safety excellence. This role requires a dynamic individual who can manage multiple projects while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver engaging, high-impact training sessions at operational sites across the organization, adapting content and delivery style to diverse audiences in industrial settings.
- Develop and implement comprehensive learning strategies that align with organizational objectives and enhance employee performance.
- Design and evaluate effective training content using best practices in instructional design and adult learning principles.
- Conduct needs assessments to determine training needs, specifically focusing on HSE compliance-related training initiatives.
- Manage multiple training projects, developing project plans, and tracking progress to ensure timely completion and assessment of outcomes.
- Collaborate with HR and technical teams to facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing across departments.
- Analyze training metrics and generate reports to assess participation rates and learning outcomes, utilizing data visualization techniques to present findings.
- Support performance management by implementing goal-setting frameworks and conducting competency assessments to identify areas for improvement.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Training Delivery & Facilitation (ESSENTIAL)
- Competencies: Deliver dynamic, engaging presentations to groups of varying sizes; facilitate interactive learning experiences; adapt training delivery to diverse learning styles and environments; command a room and maintain learner engagement
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of adult learning principles, presentation techniques, group facilitation methods, and classroom management in non-traditional settings
Industrial Environment Experience (ESSENTIAL)
- Competencies: Navigate and deliver training in active industrial/operational settings; communicate effectively with field personnel and trades workers; adapt messaging for technical and non-technical audiences
- Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial operations, manufacturing or construction environments, safety protocols, and the unique challenges of training in field conditions
Learning & Development
- Competencies: Develop learning strategies, evaluate training effectiveness, design training content
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of learning theories, instructional design principles, and adult learning principles
Instructional Design
- Competencies: Analyze learning needs, design instructional materials, evaluate instructional programs
- Knowledge: Proficient in learning management systems, curriculum development, and assessment strategies
Project Management
- Competencies: Manage multiple training initiatives, develop project plans for training programs, track progress and outcomes of training
- Knowledge: Familiar with project management methodologies, time management techniques, and resource allocation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Competencies: Collaborate with HR teams, engage with technical teams, facilitate communication across departments
- Knowledge: Strong interpersonal communication skills, team management strategies, and conflict resolution techniques
PREFERRED SKILLS
HSE Compliance
- Competencies: Conduct needs assessments for HSE training, develop training materials for HSE compliance, implement audit systems for workplace safety
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of HSE regulations, safety training methodologies, and compliance documentation standards
Data Analysis
- Competencies: Generate reports on training metrics, analyze participation rates, assess learning outcomes
- Knowledge: Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and learning metrics evaluation
Performance Management
- Competencies: Implement goal-setting frameworks, conduct competency assessments, develop performance improvement plans
- Knowledge: Knowledgeable in performance appraisal techniques, goal-setting strategies, and feedback mechanisms
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Learning & Development with a demonstrated track record of delivering in-person training
- Proven presentation and facilitation skills—candidates must be confident, engaging trainers capable of commanding attention in diverse settings
- Previous experience working in or delivering training within industrial, manufacturing, construction, or similar operational environments is required
- Experience with instructional design and project management
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (60–75% travel expected)
- Proven track record of successfully managing training initiatives in a corporate environment
