Overview:

 

As a Regional Operations & Project Manager at Bilfinger, you will be instrumental in managing the execution of maintenance contracts and project operations within the industrial services sector, encompassing heavy manufacturing, oil and gas, and various other industrial applications. Your primary focus will be on contract ownership, ensuring commercial accountability, and effectively managing risks throughout the project lifecycle. You will be responsible for the delivery of small capital industrial projects, typically valued at less than $5 million. This responsibility includes comprehensive commercial and contractual ownership from proposal to project closeout. You will ensure that projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in strict adherence to contractual obligations, company standards, and client expectations. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality services while upholding safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Contract Ownership & Commercial Management:

 

- Lead the development, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, ensuring clarity on scope, deliverables, and terms.

- Serve as the primary owner of the contract, responsible for ensuring all project activities comply with contract terms, deliverables, milestones, and commercial obligations.

- Conduct detailed contract reviews during project kickoff to identify key terms, risks, constraints, and opportunities.

- Maintain ongoing awareness of contractual rights and obligations, ensuring execution teams understand scope boundaries and limitations.

- Manage all commercial communications with clients, including clarifications, notices, and formal correspondence.

- Administer the change management process, including identification, documentation, costing, negotiation, and securing approval of change orders.

- Ensure timely issuance of contractual notifications (e.g., delays, impacts, force majeure) to protect company entitlement and avoid exposure.

- Review subcontractor and vendor agreements for alignment with prime contract requirements; enforce compliance throughout execution.

- Lead commercial closeout, including final invoicing, deliverables, lien waivers, warranty documentation, and claims resolution.

- Maintain audit-ready records demonstrating compliance with contract requirements and risk management processes.

 

 

 

Commercial Accountability:

 

- Oversee budget management, financial forecasting, and cost control for all projects, ensuring alignment with company financial objectives.

- Identify opportunities for commercial improvements and efficiencies, driving profitability while maintaining service quality.

- Conduct regular financial reviews and reporting, presenting insights and recommendations to senior management.

 

Risk Management:

 

- Implement and maintain robust risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with project execution.

- Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices to minimize operational risks.

 

Project Execution and Leadership:

 

- Lead project planning and execution activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, procurement, and field operations, to ensure seamless project delivery.

- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

 

- Act as the main point of contact for all project and commercial discussions with the client, fostering strong relationships.

- Provide clear, regular communication of project performance, risks, contract issues, and milestones.

- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring alignment with project goals.

- Facilitate effective communication across all levels of the organization to promote transparency and collaborative problem-solving.

- Represent Bilfinger at industry events, client meetings, and stakeholder forums to enhance the company’s profile and build strategic partnerships.

 

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

 

- Establish and track performance metrics, conducting regular reviews to assess project status and operational efficiency.

- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, outlining project progress, financial performance, and risk assessments.

- Drive initiatives for process optimization and innovation, leveraging industry best practices to improve service delivery.

 

Strategic Planning:

 

- Collaborate with senior leadership to define project strategies aligned with corporate goals.

- Analyze market trends and client needs to identify growth opportunities and develop strategic initiatives.

 

Resource Management:

 

- Allocate resources effectively, ensuring that projects are staffed appropriately to meet timelines and quality standards.

- Monitor workforce performance and productivity, optimizing resource utilization to maximize efficiency.

 

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:

 

- Champion a culture of safety by implementing HSE policies and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments, proactively addressing potential hazards.

 

Training and Development:

 

- Identify skill gaps within the team and implement training programs to enhance capabilities.

- Foster a culture of mentorship, encouraging professional development.

 

Operational Excellence:

 

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma to enhance processes.

- Analyze project outcomes to identify lessons learned and best practices.

 

Qualifications:

 

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

- Proven experience in project management, operations management, or contract management, preferably within the industrial services, oil and gas, or heavy manufacturing sectors.

- Strong understanding of commercial principles, contract law, and risk management practices.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.

- Proficient in project management software and tools, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
