We are seeking an experienced Security Cleared (SC) Quality Advisor with a strong nuclear and regulated industry background to support delivery of works on the Nuclear Clients programme.
This role will provide independent quality assurance oversight across project activities, ensuring full compliance with nuclear safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements. The successful candidate will operate within a highly controlled, safety-critical environment where documentation integrity, configuration control and audit readiness are paramount.
The role requires prior experience within the UK nuclear sector and the ability to operate confidently in a defence-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quality assurance leadership across the project scope.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Nuclear site licence conditions (where applicable)
- ONR regulatory expectations
- ISO 9001, ISO 19443 (nuclear supply chain), ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
- Client specific quality and documentation standards
- Prepare, review and approve:
- Quality Plans
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs)
- Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs)
- Concession / Deviation documentation
- Provide oversight of Hold Points and Witness Points in accordance with nuclear governance requirements.
- Ensure configuration management and document control standards are rigorously applied.
- Lead and support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits.
- Validate corrective and preventive actions arising from NCRs, audits and surveillance.
- Ensure full traceability of materials, processes and certification in accordance with nuclear quality requirements.
- Interface directly with the clients Quality Representatives and client stakeholders.
- Support readiness reviews and quality surveillance activities.
- Promote a “Right First Time” culture within a nuclear safety context.
- Ensure subcontractors and suppliers meet nuclear quality expectations and maintain audit compliance.
- Provide input into variations where nuclear quality requirements must be defined and costed.
Experience & Qualifications (Essential)
- Current or previously held SC Clearance (must be eligible to obtain/maintain SC).
- Demonstrable experience within UK nuclear sector (civil or defence).
- Experience working on Nuclear/ SMR or other defence-related programmes highly desirable.
- Recognised Internal Auditor qualification.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- ISO 9001
- ISO 19443 (nuclear supply chain)
- ISO 45001 & 14001
- Experience managing LTQRs / Lifetime Records in a nuclear environment.
- Experience in highly regulated sectors (nuclear, defence, petrochemical, aerospace).
- Strong understanding of configuration control and document traceability requirements.
- Experience with concessions, technical queries and deviation management in safety-critical systems.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of:
- ASME, RCC-M, PED or other nuclear codes
- NDT, heat treatment, dimensional control, surface treatment
- Pipework, steelwork and mechanical installation experience within nuclear projects.
- Experience interfacing with ONR or equivalent regulatory bodies.

- Strong written communication skills suitable for regulator and Tier 1 client review.
- Able to work calmly and accurately under audit scrutiny.
- Detail-oriented with a structured and methodical approach.
- Comfortable challenging non-compliance in a safety-critical environment.
- Able to travel to site in the Midlands when Buk or the client requests it.
