Job description

  • Together within your team of engineers and designers you are responsible for Piping design within multi-discipline engineering, Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) or Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects
  • These projects will range from concept design to execution design
  • The projects will be for different sectors (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Food), small and large projects, and greenfield and brownfield
  • You are responsible to manage and complete the design and engineering tasks within budget and planning. This includes change control and consistency of the mechanical and piping design with the other disciplines
  • You are responsible for the quality of the design deliverables including checking and approval
  • You will participate in internal and external design reviews and you are responsible for the design acceptance by the client
  • Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within the mechanical engineering team

Your profile

If you have the following profile, then we are looking forward to meeting you

  • Demonstrable experience (5 years plus) as a Piping Engineer, in multi-discipline projects, in an Engineering / EPCM / EPC company, in one of the above mentioned sectors
  • Deep knowledge of Piping engineering and design, but you also have a sound knowledge of the other disciplines (Automation, Civil, Structural, EC&I and Process)
  • MEng / BEng / HNC / HND in Mechanical and / or Piping Engineering
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (Preferred)
  • Experienced with the production and/or having input to mechanical specifications, basis of design, design risk assessments, labour estimates, scopes of work, calculations, stress reports, drawings and schedules
  • Experience supporting purchasing activities and evaluating vendor submittal
  • Experience with the application of piping design to ASME and BS EN ISO standards
  • Experience with the application of piping design to IGEM/TD/13 and IGEM/TD/12 standards (preferred)
  • You have experience performing piping stress analysis using Ceaser II software  
  • You are able to develop piping systems complying with Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations (PESR) requirements
  • Result oriented. You are only satisfied after your design is accepted by the client, you delivered top quality and the client is very satisfied with the performance of you and your team
  • You plan and organise your activities before you start spending hours. You understand the dependencies of the engineering activities within the mechanical and piping discipline, but also the dependencies between mechanical & piping and the other disciplines.
  • You have a ‘one time right’ mentality
  • You have a strong understanding of engineering change control procedures
  • You can develop and effectively present design packages to the client, ensuring it meets the scope of the job
  • You are able to chair design review meetings
  • You have experience coaching and mentoring engineers and designers within the team
  • Able to meet UK security clearance requirements (SC Clearance Preferable)
