Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Aberdeen

To provide support to Bilfinger UK IT. Maintain and administer core IT Infrastructure including voice and data network, servers and related systems, Maintain links to Global IT Infrastructure departments, Manage our critical 3rd party vendors
Main Responsibilities
• Systems Management: Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux systems.
• Infrastructure Support: Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WDS, DFS, WSUS, Terminal Servers, VMware ESXi, and vCenter.
• Storage Solutions: Handle Fiber SAN, Dell Compellent, and IBM Flash System storage solutions.
• Network Management: Work closely with Infrastructure team and monitor our 3rd party vendor to ensure they meet the needs of the business and manage our devices effectively.
• Other Technologies: Utilize Veeam, Nessus Professional, SolarWinds SIEM, and Orion for various IT operations.
• Cybersecurity: Contribute to achieving and maintaining ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications.
• Storage Management: Manage and maintain storage solutions to ensure data availability and performance. Monitor storage systems and optimize for efficiency.
• Backup Solutions: Manage and maintain backup strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. Perform regular backups and restore operations as needed.
• VMware Administration: Manage and maintain VMware environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter servers. Perform regular updates, patches, and troubleshooting.
• Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect IT infrastructure. Conduct regular security assessments and audits. Respond to security incidents and implement corrective actions.
• System Monitoring: Monitor system performance and availability. Proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure optimal system performance.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams and departments to support business objectives. Provide technical support and guidance to team members.
• Resolution of incidents, including incident management.
• Provide 3rd line technical support to enable the resolution of escalated incidents and problems.
• Provide technical assistance, guidance and mentoring to 1st and 2nd line colleagues.
• Participate in evaluation and implementation of new systems.
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to IT projects.
• Carry out / assist in upgrades to IT Infrastructure
• Support IT infrastructure systems and services.
• Incident/Problem Management resolution
• Planning and implementing IT Infrastructure
• Patch Management
• Remote Support and Remote Deployments
• Willing to travel both domestically and internationally where required
Experience and Qualifications
• Proven experience in IT infrastructure support roles.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux systems.
• Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other infrastructure services.
• Experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter.
• Familiarity with storage solutions such as Fiber SAN, Dell Compellent, and IBM Flash System.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for desktop and laptop support.
• Knowledge of Cisco and Fortinet networking.
• Experience with Veeam, Nessus Professional, and SolarWinds SIEM & Orion.
• Understanding of cybersecurity standards and practices, including ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Adaptability to a hybrid work environment.
