Material Receiver

The Material Receiving is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and verifying construction materials and equipment delivered to industrial construction sites. This role ensures materials are accurately documented, safely stored, and delivered to the appropriate departments or locations to support ongoing construction operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming shipments of materials, tools, and equipment at the job site
  • Verify delivery contents against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents
  • Inspect materials for damage, defects, or shortages and report discrepancies immediately
  • Accurately document all received items using manual logs or digital systems
  • Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and constructions teams to track and distribute materials
  • Tag and label materials with proper identification for inventory tracking
  • Safely unload trucks and containers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized receiving area and storage yard
  • Assist in cycle counts and inventory audits as required
  • Follow all site-specific safety protocols and OSHA regulations during receiving and handling activities

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED (preferred)
  • 1-2 years of experience in material receiving, preverable on industrial construction sites
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials and equipment
  • Ability to read and understand shipping paperwork and technical documentation
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain one (preferred)
  • Experience with inventory systems or material tracking software (a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more)
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
