Bilfinger UK are currently recruiting for a Radiography Barrier Patroller.  This position will be based onsite and is a permanent position. 

 

The Radiography Barrier Patroller reports directly to the Supervisor and will be responsible for patrolling radiography barriers during the radiography activities of the company. They will ensure that this activity is implemented in a safe and effective manner. They will carry out the duties in accordance with the company procedures and to the high levels of service expected by the company. The Radiography Barrier Patroller will strictly adhere to the company’s principles of independence and impartiality. 

 

Key Activities:

As a Radiography Barrier Patroller your activities will include the following: 
▪ Assisting the radiography team with the erection of RCA (Radiation Controlled Area) 
▪ Using radiation monitoring equipment to ensure dose rates along the RCA barriers are, and remain below 7.5uSv/hr, as permitted by IRR 2017 (Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017) 
▪ Ensure that only serviceable and calibrated radiation monitoring equipment is used 
▪ Maintain communications with the radiography team and immediately notify them of the need to stop the radiation exposure should dose rate levels exceed 7.5uSv/hr 
▪ Patrol RCA barriers ensuing no unauthorised or non-classified individuals attempt to enter 
▪ Prohibit all those who attempt to cross the barrier and query their reason for attempting to do so 
▪ Report all attempts by unauthorised or non classified individuals to cross RCA barriers to the supervisor or RPS (Radiation Protection Supervisor) 
▪ Stop, question anyone approaching the RCA barriers and inform them of the reason for the barrier and reiterate that entrance to the RCA is prohibited 
▪ Should any unauthorised or non classified individuals breach the barriers, immediately notify the radiography team of the need to stop the radiation exposure, inform the RPS and attempt to recall the individual/s 
▪ Attend point of work risk assessments and toolbox talks 
▪ Perform any other duties as assigned by the Site Manager or Supervisor 

 

Experience:

  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels with strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working independently and away from home
  • Ability to succeed at site specific training courses and transfer the knowledge for use in work activities

 

Qualifications:

  • CCNSG Safety Passport (can be provided for the successful candidate)

 

Desirable Skills/Qualifications (non essential)

  • Experience with radiography work
  • EDF/NNB HPC site specific training courses (eg Incident Controller, Permit Acceptor, etc)
