The Role

The Lead Accountant is responsible for adhering to accounting policies and procedures involving the maintenance of a general ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts, and financial management reporting. Under limited direction, is responsible for preparing journal entries in the general ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts and financial management reporting. 

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in corporate accounting in the industrial or commercial construction industry, industrial preferred
  • Working knowledge of SAP, preferred.
  • Previous Construction, POC accounting or Job Cost experience preferred.
  • Technically proficient in US GAAP; exposure to IFRS a plus.
  • Must demonstrate a strong ability to:
    • Adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment

    • Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with people of various backgrounds and styles
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to include clear, concise, and professional presentation of information
    • Adapt to the constantly evolving world of technology, include but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and SAP.
    • Mentor and train team members
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance highly desired

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares complex monthly balance sheet reconciliations timely and accurately, as assigned.
  • Prepares month-end and year-end close, journal entries, fixed assets, treasury postings, etc.
  • Prepares and monitors the fixed assets registers (IFRS, US GAAP and TAX).
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet and P&L on timely basis.
  • Assists with preparing the quarterly and annual financial statements based on US GAAP and IFRS basis.
  • Responsible for supporting month end close and related reporting timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for reporting analytics of balance changes and analysis.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with internal control guidelines.
  • Assists with internal reporting requirements up to Parent Company.
  • Assists with internal and external audit requests.
  • Assists with documenting accounting procedures and SOPs.
  • Assists management with ad-hoc requests, including special projects and initiatives.
  • Observes and complies with all safety rules.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Performance of the required job duties will be in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
