Electrical Foreman 

Location: Lafayette

Primary Purpose:

Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in the layout, installation, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.


Typical Duties:

Plans new or modified installations to effectively and efficiently construct or repair wiring, fixture, or equipment consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned craft workers. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of supervision. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel. May study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job. Analyzes and resolves work problems. Maintain time records. May make cost estimates for contracts. Inspects quality of finished work to insure conformance to specifications. May be required to hold license.



Working foremen should be able to: Rate information using personal judgment or standards that can be measured or checked; Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; Perform a variety of duties which may change often; Use reason and logic; Perform arithmetical operations rapidly and accurately; See detail in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings; and picture flat drawings as 3-dimensional objects. Physically, working foremen must be able to: Work easily and skillfully with hands; Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds; See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors; Reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools; Bend, crouch, and work in small places; and lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Completion of apprenticeship program and appropriate journeyman experience required. Must be licensed.
