Material Control Clerk – (Night Shift)

Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Material Control Clerk to manage our night shift tool room operations. This position is responsible for the accountability, receiving, storage, and issuance of precision tools, consumables, and equipment to production staff. The successful candidate will ensure 100% inventory accuracy, maintain tool security, and facilitate the efficient flow of materials to the shop floor to support production targets.

Shift: Night Shift (5:00 PM – 4:00 AM)

Key Responsibilities:

Tool Accountability & Issuance: Issue and receive hand tools, machine tools, and specialized equipment to/from production staff, ensuring all items are tracked in the system.

Inventory Control: Perform daily cycle counts, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and maintain accurate records of tool usage.

Tool Inspection: Examine returned tools for damage, wear, or defects, tagging items for repair or disposal as needed.

Stock Maintenance: Receive, unpack, and shelve new tools and consumable materials, ensuring they are properly labeled.

Order Preparation: Proactively prepare "tool kits" for upcoming shifts or projects to minimize machine downtime.

System Data Entry: Use computerized inventory management software (ERP) to log transactions, track tool locations, and generate reports.

Tool Room Security & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and secure tool crib, ensuring all tools are safely stored and unauthorized personnel are restricted.

Coordination: Act as the liaison between the night shift production team and purchasing to report tool shortages.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 1–2 years of experience in tool room management, inventory control, or shipping/receiving, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, ERP software).
• Familiarity with industrial tools and manufacturing equipment is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on the night shift.
• Keen attention to detail and ability to identify tools by sight or part number.
• Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs regularly.
