Primary Purpose:

Performs following tasks to assist Boilermaker I in assembly, erection, and repair of boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels, in the field.

Typical Duties:

Conveys tools, equipment, and parts to work area by hand or using hand trucks. Cleans boilers and tanks, using scrapers and steam or water hoses. Cleans work area and places salvageable material in bins. Attaches slings, ropes, or cables to objects, such as plates, tubes, and drums, following signals of Rigger. Positions and holds parts for Boilermaker I to fit, clamp, or weld parts in specified alignment. Bolts or unbolts assemblies, using handtools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and prying bars. Performs other duties as described under Helper.

Requirements:

• Follow specific directions; perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; evaluate information using measurable standards.
•  Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction).
• High school diploma preferred and on-the-job training required.
• Must have a TWIC card.
• Must be able to pass required training and hair follicle.
