The Role

 

The Site Quality Manager is responsible for providing, implementing and administering a quality assurance and control program on a large chemical and manufacturing plant and a construction jobsite environment. They will ensure that all work is performed in accordance with project plans and specifications, client requirements, and in compliance with local, state, regulatory, and federal codes. This role may have direct reports.   

 

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years’ experience in the industrial or commercial construction industry, industrial preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, and construction and engineering means and methods

  • Must be a certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or an ASNT VT Level II with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality and Inspection

  • Possess a functional knowledge of ASME BPVC, AWS D1.X, NBIC, and API codes

  • Experience developing and managing Quality Control Plans

  • Must demonstrate a strong ability to:

    • Adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment

    • Demonstrate integrity consistent with Bilfinger’s core values

    • Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with people of various backgrounds and styles

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to include clear, concise, and professional presentation of information

    • Adapt to the constantly evolving world of technology, design, means and methods. Systems may include but are not limited to: Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, other construction systems

    • Mentor and train assistant level operations team members

  • Previous management experience highly desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field highly desired

  • Additional formal safety and quality control training certifications highly desired

 

Responsibilities:

  • Project Quality Control: Manage quality related activities from pre-mobilization to completion and in accordance with client, local, state, regulatory, and federal requirements; Prepare, implement, and manage Quality Control Plan; Collaborate with project team effectively and continuously throughout project to understand, plan, and implement the contract drawings and specifications and ensure delivery of quality work; Hold Preparatory, Initial Phase, and Follow-up quality control meetings; Establish & manage testing and inspection process procedures in accordance with contract specifications; Coordinate third party material testing, lab work, and vendor activities; Oversee submittal review and approval; Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures, and conduct inspections; Assist with package development and system turnover(s); Manage process and documents related to quality control functions and records, such as detailed daily quality control reports, project deficiency logs, on-site drawings, materials used, factory tests, manufacturers’ certifications, punch lists, material and equipment verification forms, and inspections performed; Ensure project team has a clear understanding of Quality Control Plan, applicable specification sections and expected quality level throughout the project life cycle; Encourage and lead quality related training; Formulate and maintain quality control objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals; Investigate, adjust, and respond to client issues and requests regarding quality; Develop and implement methods and procedures to assess cost and responsibility for unacceptable material and supplies.

  • Client Satisfaction & Business Development: Work closely with client and project team to deliver superior results to enable and support the identification, pursuit and acquisition of new and repeat work.

  • Safety: Ensure compliance with Bilfinger Industrial Services’ Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and procedures along with local requirements (OSHA, etc.).

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Performance of the required job duties will be in a on project site-office environment along with daily project walks that are under construction which may include various weather conditions.

  • The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

    • The ability to walk terrain and surfaces that may be far, uneven, or temporary

    • The ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear

    • The ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel

    • The ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach

    • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

    • Will operate inspection hand gages of all types

    • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds

    • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis

    • Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, reaching overhead, squatting, sitting or standing and lifting

    • Ability to drive cars/trucks as needed

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus (Jaeger 12 and Ishihira)
