Commercial Project Manager 

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Position Summary

 

Under broad direction, this position is responsible for supporting the Commercial Project Management function.  Collaborates with related areas including finance, Project Management and project controls. Contributes to negotiations of key subcontracts and purchase orders, including appropriate flow downs, other risk, and compensation provisions from the prime contract. Supports project cost, scheduling and forecast.  Manages cash flow, billings, and revenue related to project finances.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Is a point of contact for project finances and controlling activities to meet internal and customer expectations.
  • Provides financial and procedural support to Operations Team from cash forecasting to revenue reconciliations.
  • Consolidates project backlog revenue and billings to Senior Management and Controlling.
  • Manages and monitors project accruals, contingencies and capitalization.
  • Ensures projects are closed in a timely manner to maintain accurate active projects.
  • Ensures the release and requirement of Lien Waivers.
  • Works closely with Project Controls for accuracy of cost projections and on time monthly deliverables/close.
  • Initiates IFRS 15 Requirements for new orders and change orders.
  • Works closely with Controlling and Acquisition to ensure proper project handover from Sales to Execution.
  • Ensures the compliance with the limits of authority guidelines for all commercial aspects.
  • Supports internal and external Audit requests.
  • Ensures compliance with financial reporting guidelines (FRG) plus local GAAP requirements. Ensures all related project reporting and controlling activities are accurate.
  • Coordinates and analyzes claims with the legal department to support contract and claims management.
  • Supports Project Management in assessing and reporting all commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Provides portfolio analysis of leading indicators (NCC, RO, DSO, CM).
  • Takes ownership of commercial project management audits from execution to project closure.
  • Performs all other duties as directed and assist the overall team effort in any way possible.
  • Assists management with ad-hoc requests, including special projects and initiatives.
  • Assists with preparation of management reports.
  • Observes and complies with all safety rules.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a project controls, commercial project manager, project financial analyst, or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a complex and fast-paced operating environment, with accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing quality work in a timely manner.
  • Good verbal and written communication and listening skills required.
  • Must be able to work individually and in a team.
  • Travel:  10%

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Knowledge of SAP, Power BI, Viewpoint is a plus.
  • Prior experience with Revenue Recognition and IFRS Guidelines preferred.
  • Experience working with MS Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excel working knowledge of V-lookups and pivot tables.
