Regional Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is responsible for effectively managing a portfolio of multi-disciplined contracts with various customers and on various sites. The portfolio is subject to change and growth. 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the legal, practical and company safety requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of core business management functions including:
    • Operations (HSEQ, efficiency, productivity, lean systems etc.)
    • HR (organisational structures, performance management, behavioural management etc.)
    • Commercial (cost and management accounting)
    • Project and Change Management (tools, processes, procedures etc.)
    • Ability to ensure that all sites within their control are effectively managed and supervised, and are staffed by suitably skilled and experienced personnel to complete the contracts effectively
    • The ability to plan, organise, monitor and if necessary take corrective action to fulfil contractual requirements and achieve appropriate financial returns
    • Leadership ability to build teams, resolves conflict, motivate, coach and develop subordinates
    • Ability to effectively manage harmonious customer relations to ensure continued and increasing business
    • An appreciation and understanding of company IT systems and application of
    • Ability to recruit, appraise, discipline, and manage performance effectively
    • To manage day to day resourcing requirement for the contracts within your responsibility

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To ensure that all contract activities are completed in a safe and effective manner in compliance with statutory regulations and company and client requirements
  • To collaborate with other site managers and operations manager to ensure resource requirements are met
  • To manage budgets, forecasting and associated portfolio risk for the contracts
  • To achieve agreed operational, growth & financial KPI’s and annual targets
  • To ensure the staff have the requisite skill, qualifications and experience to carry out their functions in the contract
  • To ensure regular monitoring and/or audit of the performance of all aspects of the operation to ensure successful outcome of the contracts or take corrective action accordingly
  • To ensure that the appropriate management systems, work processes and procedures are complied with
  • To ensure that an adequate system of reporting controls is in place for all key aspects of the contracts
  • To ensure the motivation, coaching, training, and development of all subordinates
  • To handle effective recruitment, succession planning, appraisal and disciplinary / appeal hearings
  • To ensure that effective working relationships are maintained between all staff and appropriate client representatives
  • To present effective information orally and in writing to subordinates management and clients

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience of operating at a senior level on industrial sites, preferably COMAH site or equivalent
  • Track record of managing multi discipline projects, service and installation contracts.
  • Experience in delivery and delivering improvement in a contract environment
  • Experience of managing an operational delivery team (internal & external)
  • Responsibility for contract P&L’s
  • IOSH qualification
  • Degree qualification in relevant subject (desirable)
  • NEBOSH qualification (desirable)
