QA/QC Engineer 

Location: southampton

QA / QC Engineer required for work on Fawley. 

 

Preparation and Planning 

  • Ensure you gain a thorough knowledge of all the mechanical Turnaround work scope.  Set up QA procedures to meet the Customer’s codal requirements and in accordance  with Best Practice. 
  • Submit “Electronically” all NDE request, that shall include: NDE type, Location of  testing, Pipe details (material, size & thickness) target date etc. 
  • Advise the management team, inspection and NDT staff in the agreed QA procedures.  Review weld defect reports and implement correct action where necessary. 
  • Produce and distribute QA proformas. 
  • Set up a database to manage Statutory work , modifications, pipework and supporting  documentation requirements effectively
  • Audit compliance during pre-work. 
  • Complete the quality dossier for pre-fabrication material. 
  • Issuance of all Weld Cards to include specific WPS and Consumable type. 
  • Prepare all documentation for “hand over packs “ 
  • Mark up weld maps and records. 
  • To assist the Customer in the management and control of Quality
  • Preparation and maintenance of the project QC file. 
  • Implementation of contract specific QA/QC Procedures. 
  • Carry out Quality induction of the supervisory personnel. 
  • Set up the control system for the storage and issue of welding consumables, through  the stores. 
  • Revise as required, quality documents to suit, following the Customers review for  approval. 
  • Produce  weld  procedures  for  individual  work  packs  that  contain  a  welding  requirement. 
  • Liaise with the Field Superintendant providing technical assistance where necessary.  Evaluate  project  requirements  and  where  applicable  liaise  with  the  Customer’s  Technical Department in resolution of quality problems. 
  • Monitor welding activities to ensure compliance with the company Welding Control  Procedures. 
  • Review weld defect reports and implement corrective active where necessary
  • Ensure the Welding Procedures and the Customer’s Welding Engineer reviews non- destructive Examination Procedures. 
  • Ensure that Welders are qualified and the Customer’s representative approves their  certificates/registers. 
  • Maintain a site library of qualified Welding Procedures and associated registers. 
  • Liaise  with  the  Customer’s  Welding  Engineer  in  the  resolution   of  welding  problems/activities. 
  • Liaise with the Customer’s Quality Manager in the resolution of any quality related  problem/activities. 
  • Ensure that welding instruments are maintained in good conditions and are calibrated  regularly

 

Execution 

  • Request inspection activities:-ultra sonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, dye  penetrant testing, radiography, Iris testing and camera inspection. 
  • Liaise with third party inspection team. 
  • Oversee and maintain reports, surveys and pass on to interested parties 
  • Liaise  with  Area  teams  to  ensure  that  appropriate  QA  records  are  recorded  and  maintained 
  • Update the database of information supporting the QA and modifications systems to  ensure that system handovers are not delayed due to paperwork non-conformance  Audit the correct applications of QA procedures 
  • Investigate and report on quality non-conformances 
  • Oversee quality of weld inspections:-“preps”, joint “set-ups”, final welds and ensure  correct testing is carried out at the relevant stages. 
  • Ensure  fabrication  spec  and  weld  procedure  are  adhered  to  and  that  the  correct  consumables are used. 
  • Quality check all work when completed and ensure all documents and Control Sheets  are signed and dated. 
  • Ensure all statutory paperwork signed off. 
  • Select correct consumable certification. 
  • Ensure correct material certification is on file 
  • Make up QA packs by job number/area. 
  • Ensure completed work packs are signed off by the Customer welding inspector.  The welding QA pack is to be included in the main work pack for the job. 
  • Present completed packs for sign off and hand over.   

 

Review 

 

  • Compile the Quality Assurance dossier and submit to the Customer on completion of  the project. 
  • Compile  a  report  on  the  application  of  the  QA  system  and  opportunities  for  improvement
