A Blue Hat Supervisor will lead a team of mechanical tradesmen, ensuring that they complete assigned tasks in a safe, effective and timely manner.
- Supervisors play a key role in the health and safety of any contract
- They develop, implement and monitor the Safe Systems of Work that we use
- They are “hands on” with the safety and in ensuring the highest possible standards of workmanship in our workplaces
- They are responsible for putting your people to work
- They have responsibility to check that the workplaces in which you place your workforce are acceptable and safe
- They have responsibility to check that adequate controls are in place to reduce risk
- They must supervise your workforce and escalate issues to the Black Hat Supervisor or Site Manager as appropriate
- They must ensure they understand the essential safety requirements
- They must complete trade assessments for all personnel under their supervision at 7 days, 3 months, every 6 months, end of an event/project and end of employment.
Ensure all platform or site rigging requirements are carried out in compliance with LOLER and Bilfinger / Client Lifting procedures and standards Tasks may involve but not be limited to the following :
▪ Interpreting and working to approved lifting plans and risk assessments.
▪ The safe selection, deployment and operation of rigging and lifting equipment and accessories.
▪ Ensure that all lifting equipment and accessories are fit for by carrying out a pre and post use inspection.
▪ Undertaking load moving operations using fixed and portable lifting equipment.
▪ Developing lifting plans and risk assessments for lifting operations using fixed and portable lifting equipment as required.
▪ Conducting and participating in Toolbox Talks and carrying out the role of Performing Authority as required.
▪ Assume the role of Lifting Operations Leader as require
Role Qualifications: one of the following
- ECITB Diploma in:
- Moving Engineering Construction Loads
- Engineering Construction Lifting, Positioning and Installing Structures, Plant and Equipment
- Diploma in Moving Engineering Construction Loads at SCQF Level 6
- ECITB Skills Test Alternative / Skills Test Number: TNL03
- ACE Card
Supervisor Qualifications:
- Enrolment onto ILM Level 3 Certificate C&BE plus completion of Nuclear Unit or Nuclear Engineering Construction Supervisor (NECS)
- LATS or SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safety
